Where do scammers get so many pictures of one person?

The scammer that I was talking to took the pictures from a Facebook page of a military soldier before he retired and before there was a way to have privacy settings to protect your account. I did talk to the real soldier whose identity was being used and he was very nice but also very aggravated. Scammers had been using his pictures and posing as him for the past 3 years and he was receiving messages every day from upset women who had found him after searching online and thought he was the person that was asking them for money.

He would explain to them that his identity had been stolen and his pictures used by scammers. Some women understood, some women didn’t and would not believe him. He was very patient in talking to me and even sent me a video of himself to show me that he was real and the person I was talking to was a scammer.
