Boston Dynamics is allowing Hyundai to purchase a controlling stake in the company in a deal that runs to over $1 billion. Hyundai takes about 80 percent stake in the company, while Softbank will retain about 20 percent.

Boston Dynamics is a spin-off from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It created robots using DARPA funding. Two of its main productions are Spot, a small quadrupedal dog that’s been tested in a variety of ways. Another one is Atlas, a humanoid bipedal robot that can run and do backflips.
