How to Protect yourself against crypto scams

Tell a friend about this post

When crypto prices start to move, it’s easy to get excited. Unfortunately, it also makes it easier for scammers to take advantage of people.

We’ve already seen an increase in accounts impersonating Blockchain.com and our employees, so it’s important to be skeptical of any inbound communication you receive. If you see offers like giveaways, get rich quick schemes, or mining opportunities, it is a scam.

As a rule of thumb, we will never ask you:

  • To send us money
  • To send us your 12 word recovery phrase
  • For a fee to upgrade your account (i.e. to Gold level verification)
Always double check email addresses and social media handles to ensure you’re communicating with the official Blockchain.com team. You may even want to follow us on our official social channels.
