• Musk to integrate xAI with SM platform X

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI will soon be integrated into his social media platform X and also be available as a standalone app, the business mogul said on Sunday in a post.

He also said xAI released its first AI model, a bot named Grok, after making it available to all X Premium+ subscribers late last week. Musk said he wants to create AI tools that ‘assist humanity in its quest for understanding and knowledge’ and that Grok has been designed to answer questions with a bit of wit.

He has criticized Big Tech’s AI efforts as ridden with censorship, and in July launched xAI, calling it a “maximum truth-seeking AI” that tries to understand the nature of the universe to rival Google’s (GOOGL.O) Bard and Microsoft’s (MSFT.O) Bing AI.

Regarding Grok, Musk said he has real-time access to info via the X platform, which is a massive advantage over other models.

X, the social media firm formerly known as Twitter which Musk owns, is separate from xAI, but the companies work closely together.

  • Why Elon Musk launched xAI

    Q1: What is xAI?

xAI is Elon Musk’s recently created artificial intelligence organization. Its 12-strong team plans to “understand the true nature of the universe”, as it is claimed and posted on the xAI website.

Don’t get it twisted, xAI is not the same thing as X Corp, the umbrella company of Twitter or X, according to the venture’s website, but will “work closely” with Musk’s other companies, including Twitter and Tesla, which already uses AI for its self-driving cars.

“I don’t know what the deal with the Xs is,” says Catherine Flick at De Montfort University, UK. “He obviously just likes Xs.” She’s referring to Musk’s constant infusion of X into his firms.

Q2: Why has Musk launched it?

It is an extension of Musk’s longstanding interest in AI and his return to the field after pulling funding from OpenAI back in 2018.

The guy had been the primary bank-roller for the company – which created ChatGPT – at its launch in 2015, appearing on stage at an academic conference announcing $1 billion in funding.

  • Elon-Twitter saga – How it helped Twitter’s stock

Elon Musk recently said he’s ready to buy Twitter, and if he’s not allowed to do so, he will reconsider his position as a shareholder.

The news was spread over social media but one that gained my attention was seeing Twitter’s stock rise during the viral news.

    Why did it arise?

    And what does it matter?

At first, investors were not clear on what Tesla CEO wanted to do with Twitter, since he said he will make it a private company.

Secondly, no one could actually tell how Elon would finance the purchase.

Thirdly, because Elon has shown interest in buying Twitter, other potential admirers/buyers also came up, and this is what likely made Twitter’s stock price go up.

We wait for Twitter to reveal how this news pans out.
