AI – here’s one area you’ll enjoy the phones

There’s a Magic editor – it includes sky replacement, object removal and moving, and further AI enhancement.

For photography fans worldwide, it comes with Google’s impressive range of AI-powered computational photography features like those that have been common since the days of the Pixel 6. This includes Magic eraser, Long exposure, Action pan, and more, plus there are a range of new features.

    Computational and AI photography features

There are different AI photography features that come with the phone. Some of these are new, and some have been around since the Google Pixel 6 series.

    What about the Magic Editor?

To use the Magic Editor, the smartphone must be connected to the internet, the user needs to ensure that Google Photos is setup to backup his or her photos to the cloud.

If the user didn’t set this up, for example, or if the storage is full, then he or she won’t be able to use this feature.
Trying to select it, and the phone will helpfully tell the user to backup the photos on the phone, but won’t let the user backup just the one photo he or she wants to edit (without going to a different bit to back it up).

  • Pixel 5 screen gap problem

The Pixel 5 screen gap problem that some buyers discovered after purchasing the brand new Google phone is “normal,” according to Google.

    • The company explained that the ugly gap is to be expected, although it’s not the kind of Pixel 5 feature you’d see advertised anywhere in official imagery or marketing materials.
    • Google says the screen gap will not hurt the Pixel 5’s water and dust resistance or the functionality of the phone.

  • My Google Pixel 4a battery life impressions

I’ve been lucky enough to have the Pixel 4a in my pocket the last several weeks, and in that time I’ve developed a pretty good sense for its battery life. I won’t make you read on to let you know my thoughts, either. In a single sentence, the Pixel 4a’s battery life is the best of any Pixel smartphone I’ve ever used. Now, that may seem like a bit of a cop-out, since many Pixels have had pretty terrible battery life. Not this one: the Pixel 4a can go all day and then some, which is genuinely surprising when you consider its battery really isn’t all that big in the first place.

  • Google Pixel 4a first impressions

Just a few days, Google announced the Pixel 4a after months of delays. It was originally supposed to be shown off at Google’s I/O developer conference, just like the Pixel 3a was in 2019. I/O ended up being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so Google held off on launching the Pixel 4a for a while.

The budget Pixel comes in at $349, and it’s all about bringing those flagship features down to a lower price point. It has the same 12MP single-lens camera that Google has been using, and since the company relies heavily on software to take good pictures, it has the exact same feature set. The only thing missing is the 2x zoom lens that’s found on the Pixel 4. It supports things like astrophotography, Super Res Zoom, and more.
