• Usher gets motivating call from Jay-Z about headlining Super Bowl

     

    Usher has revelaed that he got an exciting call from Jay-Z about the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show which will hold next year, 2024.

    After it was announced he would be headlining the major performance, he spoke about a conversation he had with the rapper, when he found out about big news.

    In an interview with radio DJ Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Usher also talked about how he feels about headlining the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime show set for February 11, 2024.

    Usher also said his ‘big homie’ reached out to him personally.

    He recalled what the Roc Nation founder said to him on the phone: ‘When I got this call, he said, “It’s time, it’s magic time. You know, it’s time for you to have that moment.”

    He said that he was confused about what Jay-Z was referring to at the time of the call.

    Usher said he then realized he was talking about talking about him performing at the halftime show.

    ‘I’m like, “What are you talking about?” He’s like, “The Super Bowl”,’ he said.

    In response, he recalled saying that he was prepared and excited to do something he’s always dreamed about doing.

    He recalled saying to Jay-Z: ‘Oh, you ready? Absolutely.’

    Recently, he has been busy with an ongoing residency in Las Vegas and will be taking the stage at Allegiant Stadium as the city hosts the game for the first time.

    Usher knew his performance at the Super Bowl is something that’s bound to happen.

    ‘I think that everything that led up to that moment, going to Las Vegas for my residency for the last two years. The legacy, obviously, that is the music, the celebration of entertainment in that place. It’s the City of Lights.’

    ‘You know, it’s always been a place where entertainers go and find love and passion, connection to their fans,’ he said. ‘So for the Super Bowl to have made its way to Las Vegas while we were in Vegas, having such an amazing two years…’

    ‘It is definitely going to be a moment to remember,’ he said before adding that performing at the Halftime Show ‘has been on my bucket list for a long time’.

    ‘This is the most grand stage to ever play on,’ he added. ‘Those 13 minutes mean everything.’

    Previously, Usher performed with the Black Eyed Peas during their headlining performance at the Super Bowl in 2011.

    His performance marks entertainment agency Roc Nation’s fifth Super Bowl halftime show under their partnership with the NFL.
