4. What challenges do mothers face today?

Mother sometimes are worried if her children will choose to serve Jehovah, as much as Timothy did. Also, many mothers face more challenges because they are struggling to raise their children without a husband or with a husband who does not worship Jehovah. That’s the challenge that sister Christine faced. Her unbelieving husband kicked against her efforts of raising their children as Jehovah’s Witnesses. That made her shed tears for years, while wondering if her children could ever come to worship Jehovah.

9. Where can a mother who has an unbelieving husband find help?

Jehovah will help mothers who are having unbeliving husbands that may not cooperate with them as they try to raise up their children. Jehovah has provided many effective teaching tools through his organization to study with young children. Mothers can also tap from the wealth of experience other parents can offer them for fresh ideas on how to use these tools for family worship? So they need to pray to Jehovah for help to know how to communicate with their children.

12. According to 2 Timothy 1:5, what effect did Eunice’s example have on Timothy?

Timothy shared his mother’s faith. It was clear to brothers and sisters then that the young man had learn what true faith was by the way he lived his life. It was no coincidence because Timothy was closely watching his mother’s example and was moved to imitate it. His mother taught him by example and he took after her because the lessons reached his heart.

16. What effect can a mother’s example have on others?

Good examples of faith displayed by mothers can remain in the minds of others and could be used to encourage others. Apostle Paul met Lois and Eunice at Lystra, and he may have helped them to become Christians. It was some 15 years later that Apostle recalled the unhyporcritcal faith that “dwelled first in Eunice.” She made a lasting impression on Paul. Today too, faithful example of mothers raising their children without a mate or in a religiously divided household strengthens and motivates those around them for a long time.
