Motorola wants fans and prospective customers to wear its new flexible smartphone around their wrist like a slap bracelet.

Motorola showed off its new concept for a smartphone that you can wear like a slap bracelet on your wrist.

The device was revealed at the annual Lenovo Tech World event held this week.

The phone is an “adaptive display concept” that can be “bent and shaped into different forms depending on users’ needs,” the company announced in a press release.

When flat, the phone’s 6.9-inch screen is offered as full Android experience.

But when folded, it becomes a device in a self-standing upright position, the phone runs “a more compact form of full Android” on a 4.6-inch display. Thirdly, it can also be slapped onto your wrist like a (a large) watch for hands-free use on the go.

There are some reasonable questions to be asked about just how feasible a wrist-phone would be. Does it feel like it’s weighing down your wrist after a while? How many flips and bends can the phone withstand before breaking? How would you even put a case on this thing?

We wait, as this is just a concept that a group of technology experts are checking out at the moment.

All we know is that Lenovo, which owns Motorola, had another concept for a phone you could wrap around your wrist, and that was about seven years ago at its Tech World event.

Almost at that same year, a Chinese startup called Moxi Group said it was working on a phone that could fully loop around your wrist like a bracelet.

Till now, none of those have leaped into the reality.

Flip phones at this time are viable options for now. They’re part of a looming comeback in recent years due to phones like the Motorola razr+, Google Pixel Fold, and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
