The Ravens’ 2024 season will kick off against the team that ended last year’s magical campaign, as they will travel to Kansas City to face the defending champion Chiefs on the nationally televised “Thursday Night Football” season opener.
The AFC Championship rematch will be on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Arrowhead Stadium. The first game of the 2024 NFL schedule was announced Monday on “The Today Show.”
The Ravens’ full schedule is expected to be released on Wednesday, along with the rest of the NFL, but now Baltimore can mark one huge game on the calendar. As if the Ravens needed any more motivation this offseason, the NFL provided it like a carrot at the end of a stick.
Led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, Baltimore was the AFC’s top seed in last year’s playoffs and seemed destined to reach the Super Bowl. That was until Patrick Mahomes and Co. came to M&T Bank Stadium and stunned the Ravens in a 17-10 victory in the AFC Championship.
Mahomes is 4-1 against Jackson and the Ravens during his career, including the playoffs. The Ravens will look to change that and make a Week 1 statement.
Kansas City Chiefs to host Baltimore Ravens
The Kansas City Chiefs’ quest for a third consecutive Super Bowl will begin in front of the entire country. The Chiefs will open the 2024 NFL campaign by playing in the first game of the season, when they host the Baltimore Ravens, TODAY revealed exclusively May 13.
The game will take place Thursday, Sept. 5, on NBC and Peacock.
(Peacock is part of our parent company, NBCUniversal.)
Traditionally, the defending Super Bowl champion plays in the first game of the season, usually on prime time on Thursday night of the opening weekend, although that is not always the case.
The rest of the NFL schedule will be announced May 15 on the NFL Network and Peacock.
Chiefs opens 2024 season title defense against Ravens
The Kansas City Chiefs will open their attempt for a three-peat when they host the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL’s annual prime-time season opener, the league announced Monday.
The matchup, to be played Thursday, Sept. 5 at Arrowhead Stadium, is a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game, which the Chiefs won 17-10 before defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
