A 17-year-old schoolgirl named Lainie was killed while trying to protect her family from a knife-wielding intruder in their home in Cefn Fforest, South Wales. The incident occurred around 7:15 am, when Lainie was found dead in her bedroom with multiple stab wounds. In a bid to save her eight-year-old brother, who witnessed the attack, Lainie urged him to hide under the bed. She also attempted to defend herself against the attacker, who had also stabbed their mother, Rhian Stephens, 38.

An 18-year-old man from Newbridge was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and is currently in custody. They hope for a full recovery for Lainie’s mother, who is hospitalized following the attack.
Gwent Police confirmed that they are not seeking any additional suspects connected with this case after making the arrest. They assured residents that there would be an increased police presence in the area as they continue their investigations.
