2023 is very good year, at least for music. There’s no denying Latin Music in 2023 is experiencing a global explosion because of record breaking sales, sold out concerts, and acceptance in mainstream culture.
And you know what? People care not much about the lyrics.
The last time Latin music had a massive impact was in the early 2000’s. In those days, singers like Ricky Martin, Shakira, and Marc Anthony were among the few artists recording songs in English to appeal to an American and Global market.
By that time, they were considered to be cross-over artists.
Now, more than 20 years later, the artists behind the music are choosing to sing, perform, and record in Spanish, their native language.
Why?
Simply because fans care more about sound more than lyrics.
Latin music genres include Reggaeton, Urban Spanish, and traditional Mexican Cumbias with a modern twist .
In these days, the most visible of the artist globally is perhaps Bad Bunny.
The Puerto Rican Superstar is now Spotify’s most streamed artist ever with tens of billions of streams worldwide over since 2020.
