Thousands of Palestinians traversed north along the Gaza coastline on Saturday, journeying by foot, vehicle, and cart back to their deserted residences as a truce between Israel and the Palestinian militant organization Hamas appeared to be sustaining.
Israeli forces withdrew under the initial phase of a US-mediated accord established this week to conclude the conflict, which has claimed tens of thousands of lives and left a significant portion of the territory devastated.

Following the completion of their redeployment on Friday, which positions them outside major urban locations while retaining control of approximately half the territory, the countdown commenced for Hamas to release its hostages within a 72-hour timeframe.
