Manalapan woman costs mortgage company hundreds of thousands, feds say

A township woman pleaded guilty Tuesday for her role in a scheme to finance the purchase of properties for unqualified buyers, which cost the mortgage company “hundreds of thousands of dollars,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey.

Bianca Medina, 54, of Manalapan, who was a loan officer for an undisclosed mortgage company in Monmouth County, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a prepared statement Tuesday afternoon.

Medina pleaded guilty in front of state District Court Judge Stanley R. Chesler. She faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine at her sentencing date on Oct. 20.
